teresa chlapowski biography

Teresa uses colour in a dynamic and expressive way to infuse even simple pieces with a joy and vitality that makes her work instantly accessible. The technique of fusing, literally fusing two or more sheets of glass together, allows her to create sculptural panels from moulds using ceramic fibre, which have a textile, flowing quality.  Each glass vessel casts a beautiful kaleidoscopic reflection on a surface, moving as the light changes.

Teresa says of her work "My love of colour and texture makes me see patterns in everything!   Every glass piece is an exciting challenge, a partnership between me and the glass as it works its own magic.  My inspiration comes from the sea and reflections, Ancient Egyptian art and the human figure and its shadows, textiles and photography (I am continually taking photographs which I often translate into glass) "

Teresa has exhibited at the Mall Galleries (with SWA, RSMA and RMS), La Galeria in London (with East West Arts), Birmingham Society of Artists, Oxo Gallery (finalist with Chaiya Awards 2 years running), and POSK Gallery Hammersmith as well as with galleries in Wimbledon and Hertfordshire. She is also a member of: Chelsea Art Society APA (association of Polish Artists in GB), CGS (Contemporary Glass Society), GAS (Glass Art Society based in the US), Just Glass Society, HVA (Hertfordshire Visual Arts) and IAL (exhibiting also in Japan)
